My dog is a Great Pyrenees and is now getting what is called, "Hot Spots." Scratchng with his nails or/and teeth, he loses fur. A lot but he has a lot too. I have been to the vet twice now (in 2 yrs.) and have to get some salve called, Animax. plus 2 prescriptions. One is Ciprofloxacin (antibiotic) and Prednisone (for itching). This time I am going to have to go back to the vet so he can get more meds. It did not heal as it did before. The Pyr's are known for these things. He is ok. Not sick or anything like that.

Also, I forgot to mention. I buy a flea/tick collar (Hartz @ Giant Foods for $4.99) along with Armor& Hammer Baking Soda (@ any Dollar Store for 1.00). I cut the collar in 10 pieces. I place 1 piece along with 1/3 c of the baking solda into my vaccum cleaner and vaccum at least once a week. Kills fleas, ticks and dust mites.

Both my dogs, Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd scratched and bite themselves until the had patches of hair missing and red patches in its place. A friend suggested I get some Hydrocortisone Shampoo or Spray. I purchased the shampoo ($9.99@Petsmart) and gave them a both (following direction on the bottle) letting it set for 3 minutes and rinsed thoughtly and both them a second time with an Oatmeal bath & conditioner (letting that also set for 3 minutes) and rinsed them completely free of any remaining solution. It was an immediate relief. I bathe them on a monthly basis and down their spine area (from should area to the tip of the tail area with Frontline Tick and Flea liquid. The Australian Shepherd keeps a build-up of wax in her ears in which I take water on a washcloth especially for her use only and clean her ears out on a weekly basis. Hope this can help many. This website is very informative, yes, indeed. Thanks.

I cannot afford to care for our step daughters dog, plus pay her other expenses, due to her unemployment status. I feel due to the excessiveness of her pets scratching condition and the fact that she is blind and loosing her hearing, she should be put down. she is a shih*tzu with no hair around her ears, or her tail area, from the tail down she is totally
raw!!!
Within hours of a visit our house smells awful due to this poor little creature!! She scratches on everything and whimpers constantly. I hate seeing this aniamal suffer, but we cannot afford to have her looked at by a vet. And, your article didnt help me, but your web-site did. Thank you.

I ordered a portrait of my dog to be painted by a vendor at Poochpainter@ntown.com. When I recieved my order I couldn't believe how beautiful it turned out! I sent her several pictures of my dog and from those pics she captured the beauty of my dog; inside and out! The price of the portrait was so reasonable; I plan to get my friend's and families' dog portraits painted for Christmas this year! I highly recommend anyone who treasures their dog or cat enough to have their portrait painted, check out this vendor!! Honestly...her work is gorgeous!
