Penny Lexington, KY 6/14/2008 2:47:36 PM I don't like pit bulls at all, but i think they should be given a chance. But the first time they bite someone, they should be taken immediatly
Tiffany Riverton, UT 6/14/2008 2:36:18 PM whoever came up with idiotic idea to murder a bunch of inocent animals to keep them from being trained to fight needs to be stoped and put in an insane insilum for a mental evaluation and a cat scan and the people who let this idiot have such high position in politics should be fired
Kara Portland, ME 6/14/2008 12:14:11 PM This is the absolute wrong way to handle aggressive dogs. It's never the breed's fault, it's the owner's fault. Pit bulls were initially bred to be companion dogs, just like boxers were. Yes, they're bulky and tough, but they are not genetically predisposed to violence or aggression. If you want to 'put a stop to the vicious training of pit bulls' then use the taxes you'd be wasting on trying to pass this bill to instead require dog owners to take specific training classes to ensure that they're not training their dogs to hurt innocent people. The dogs are just as much victims as the people, in that case. And it's people like Me Me Me that will work at passing this bill, because they're scared and under-educated and think that something this violent, this extreme, is a good idea, when it's not. I hope this bill doesn't pass, because if it passes in one state, it's going to pass in others, and it won't take long for a brilliant, sweet, protective and loyal breed like the pit bull to fall into extinction. We should be protecting and helping our dogs. Not punishing them for something they're in no control over.
Kristen Bloomingdale, OH 6/14/2008 11:51:15 AM ME ME ME. I can't believe you. It's ignorance like that, that will hurt all of the pitbull owners out there. Myself included. My dogs are sweet, loving animals that would never hurt anyone given any chance. I've been bit by dogs. You don't see me getting angry at one specific breed. You can't kill an entire breed just because you're angry at one ignorant owner's dog. I hope this bill doesn't pass because I would be losing apart of my family.
Roxanne Calgary, AB 6/14/2008 11:40:42 AM I think this is the wrong way to try and fix a issue. If pitbulls are banned there will always be another breed of dog for people to train to their own anger. I have a pitbull and she is renown for being the most sweet tempered dog people know. I have no doubt that there are mean dogs, of every breed, but responsible owners will act to either keep their dog away from situations that pose a issue or put the dog down. Most of the time though it is the owner and not the dog. Go after owners who promote aggresion not the dog, or we will have all breeds banned in time.
Jennifer Bowling Green, KY 6/14/2008 11:15:53 AM It sounds like the sponsors of this bill are pretty ignorant...any dog can be vicious if it is mistreated no matter what breed it is. I certainly hope that this bill is voted down...I don't have a dog, but it seems very unfair to single out pitbull owners!
TMG Houston, TX 6/14/2008 9:59:46 AM In response to Me, me, me. I too have been bit by several dogs in my lifetime. That does NOT make me hate the 4 breeds that bit me. Don't people realize that if you treat a little shitzu mean, than it will be mean? It's NOT the dog. It's the dim whit assholes that own them. I am sick of this coutry worrying about stupid bans on Pitbulls. Get a life and get a real argument. Me, me, me, I don't know if you have a dog but if you do. How would you like to have to surrender you animal? I think that people who violate a certain breed because of what they hear are IGNORANT. I don't hate any dog, in spite of bad experiences with certain breeds and these certain breeds were NOT Pitbulls. GET EDUCATED!!!
Erika Steubenville, OH 6/14/2008 9:29:23 AM I AM IN OHIO and I have two very loving, beautiful pitbulls that have been raised around children ages 3 and 1 and they are perfect. They bark at strangers yet pose no threat whatsoever. They love us, our cats, our entire extended family. I think this law would be MURDER! IT SHOULD NOT BE PASSED and we should do all we can to stop it!
bertha SAN DIEGO, CA 6/14/2008 9:07:35 AM is there anything that we can do in califronia!! to help those responsable owner in ohio!! i think is just bs.(excuse my french) what they r doing to those pit bulls..
Veda Tonawanda, NY 6/14/2008 8:51:55 AM This is horrendous! There are a lot of pits that are gentle loving animals! Just beacause some are bad and used to fight, doesn't mean the entire breed should be done away with! How stupid is this? It infuriates me to no end!!!
ME ME, ME 6/14/2008 7:59:33 AM Excellent! I honestly think this is the right thing to do, think about it, being a victim of an attack long ago, how would you like it, if this dangerous breed is free to wander and kill as much as it likes.
jodi los banos, CA 6/14/2008 6:36:31 AM If this bill goes thru-it could cause major problems for people everywhere. The law needs to crack down on the people, not the dogs...Cesar Milan needs help to get info across-its not the dogs-its the owners... To target owners of good dogs is sad....
Amanda NY, NY 6/14/2008 5:57:37 AM I really don't think that is fair. The owners are the ones who are not training them right. THEY are training them to be aggressive.
Liza McGovern, NB 6/14/2008 5:32:45 AM I don't understand why gov. wants to punish the dog for the misdeeds of the owner. They want to stop the dogs from being trained to be agressive...so go after the owners!!
