Soap Star Talks About Her Dog’s Death

“Days of our Lives” actress Christie Clark says her dog, Mr. Blonde, was an “absolute champion.”

Christie Clark, who portrays good girl Carrie Brady on the soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” is opening up about the loss of her dog, mutt Mr. Blonde, to cancer last month. “I miss him – he was an absolute champion,” the actress told Soap Opera Digest.

The death capped an emotional month for Clark. “A couple of weeks before his death, we found out that I’m pregnant. It’s funny how life works that way. One chapter closing and another opening up,” she says.

Clark, who grew up in Orange County, Calif., has been around dogs since she was a kid, and volunteers for Much Love Animal Rescue, an animal welfare organization based in Los Angeles. “My parents made me pick up dog poop, which helped instill a strong work ethic,” she jokes.

Clark has portrayed Carrie Brady on and off since 1986. The actress returned to the role in 2005 after a year-long absence, and commutes between Los Angeles, where “Days of our Lives” films, and the San Francisco home she shares with husband Thomas Barnes.

This will be the couple’s first child.
