Martha Spartanburg, SC 7/6/2010 5:52:37 PM the information provided was right on target, having had a Lab for 11 years. They are wonderful dogs and easily trained.
Demi Burmington, VT 8/1/2009 5:40:35 PM i have a beautiful yellow lab, and he loves to play and is almost completely housebroken after two weeks. however, i must disagree with the doggy daycare thing. my mom has a golden that went to the daycare, but while there a pitbull bit him in the nose, and the people didnt do anything. i leave my dog at home when i go to school, and even then theres always my parents and their dog at home to keep company. anyway this was a good overview.
Niecy Brooklyn, NY 5/8/2009 7:25:51 PM I have a Black Lab and have had him for 7 years now. We got him when he was 2 months. The guide this site gives is great advice on how to train your puppy. Even till this day my cousins and I will act like big kids and play hide and seek with my Lab. They learn more on their own also as they get older. My dog has tought him self how to open doors, let you know what he wants ( go outside, hungry etc..) The only thing i would have to disagree with is the doggy daycare. My dog is just fine at home with his blanket he carries around the house, and our cat while I leave for skool and my mom goes to work. Also country homes with huge space is a plus, but not needed.
Jith. Colombo Sri Lanka, AK 10/6/2007 10:39:11 AM This is more a seeking of guidance. I read the web site with great interest.Thank you very much for this most informative subject matter. We have had a Lab for the last 13 years and recently had to have him put to sleep as he was very ill. My wife and I are about to get a 9 week old male Lab puppy and would like advice on when we should start his training. A diffuculty we have is that in our home ibn Sri Lanka we have a several domestic staff who do not speak English -but our last dog understood both English and Sinhalese words of love etc but not words of obedience since the domestic aides are inclined to be too soft and frrl it is unkind to be firm ot correct the bad behaviour. However with this aside - we would appreciate some guidance on at waht age we should actually start the more meaningful training. Hope you can help Thank you
