Sandy Tampa, FL 9/21/2011 7:13:32 PM Very Good article. My Little Angel came home today and is doing well.
Lila Arvada, CO 9/9/2011 1:10:59 PM Don't chastise your rescue dog if he has an accident or two the first few days. He may be afraid and nervous, and he'll feel badly about it if he does have an accident.
Hela Kozlo@telus.net, AL 9/1/2011 11:59:13 PM Very good article I am with a rescue organization in Edmonton, AB and wonder if I can print this artice and place it in our adoption folder for the new forever home .
leo clearwater, FL 9/1/2011 3:13:05 PM very good. I"ve adopted my dog 18 months ago. I wish I had seen this 18 months ago.
Krystyna Kitchener, ON 8/31/2011 8:13:06 AM Thank you very much for this article on Resue Dogs. My puppy was from home with three litters. She was going to be kept by the owner as a breeding dog for at birth mom by accident bit off her tail and no one wanted her. All the females of all three litters were gone except for her. I could not let her be left behind for she was so tiny. She lives a good life and was rescued from a life of just breeding and then discarded away when no longer needed.
MARGARET wichita, KS 8/31/2011 6:30:49 AM I just rescued a dog 1 month a go and have done these things. Our first obedience class starts this month. All these suggestions are right on target. My new baby has adjusted well and gets along with the 4 other babies. thanks for the great info keep it up
Jennifer Red Lion, PA 8/31/2011 5:05:49 AM Is there additional information on bringing a rescue dog into a home already home to other dogs? What is the best way to handle this?
Kathy San Jose, CA 8/30/2011 10:52:07 PM Great tips! Our rescue BC, Meko, was so timid and frightened when we got him two years ago. We did all of these tips and he has adjusted extremely well...he is now a therapy dog for hospitals and convalescent homes as well as listening to kids read at the library!
Marcia Lilburn, GA 8/30/2011 5:22:26 PM Excellent! Our rescue group tells adopters the same things (with the exception of the heartworm test, which we have done). Some people listen; others do not. The ones that don't are most likely to return their dogs.
Kathleen Narragansett, RI 8/30/2011 5:17:03 PM Those are great tips. As the proud owner of a rescue collie by taking the time to get to know her and her getting to know us we now have a loving loyal member of the family. Hint... Obedience classes really help bond with your new dog.
Linda Lancaster, PA 8/30/2011 1:34:08 PM Nicki: Why do you keep three dogs outside?? YOu live where it gets very cold and also, how can they be pets if they are outside dogs?
Brianna Marietta, GA 7/2/2011 1:00:49 PM This is great to know because I am bringing a rescue dog home soon. And Leigh I don't own a chihuahua but I know someone who does so I know some things about owning them.

laurie scottsville, KY 1/21/2011 12:11:58 PM i have owned all the dogs in my life till death do we part. i know of some rescue dogs i need to rescue. they are causing sleepless nights for me. i think all rescue homes should be better supervised. this is the second rescue person i have ever met and they should not have any dogs. i am willing to address the rescue person in a kind manner and take on the responsibility to ensure the care and social attention these animals need. not trying to start any bad stuff, but just need to do what needs to be done. hoping your page will have some answers for me, if i should come upon anything that i cant manage. from a true animal lover to another, thank you for your caring ways in the animal world
