I have 2 dogs a german pincher and a wolfhybrid neather dogs have ever shown any kind of agression twards anyone especialy jasper my wolf he loves everyone and everything the bigest sweetheart ever he loves children and knows exactly how gental he needs to be. People say wolves are mean and hybrids are vicious because of that but i found that they are very misunderstood wolves and hybrids are shy and have a strong need of a pack once they figure out where there place is they will go what ever you want them to no questions asked and they would much rather run and hide from strange people then go near them. The only time people get bit are when the person is being agressive twards the wolves family and the dogs protecting them or when some one is messing with the wolfdog even after the dog gives morethen enough warning . The same i believe is true with other so called dangerous dogs they are all misunderstood . When it all boils down all dogs have the potential to be dangerous from experiance i have always had dogs in my life and ive only been bitten by small dogs like shizus never by big dogs so if there gonna band dangerous dogs there gonna have to ban all dogs.

I cannot believe a thinking legislative body could even consider such a bill! Should we next ban certain nationalities because some invidiuals are not law abiding? It is not the breed, but rather a particular dog, or more commonly, a particular owner who has failed his or her dog, and that is where concentration is needed. We all know the horrors of animal abusers and backyard breeders. Spend our tax dollars and law enforcement's time cleaning up and correcting these situations and educating the human population to prevent problems of individual animals. This law must be
prevented!

Having owned several Dobermans over the years I can first hand comment that Dovbermans are truly devoted and gentle family dogs. And to BAN this breed and others due to stereotyping is ridiculous. Animals generally are a product of their environment. Too sad that certain dog owners treat their animals abusively to create vicious dogs for pleasure and
power.
Perry Thurstan (D-Plantation) needs to research the breeds he is unjustly targeting and talk to Vets and Breeders alike. And then more importantly redirect his energies and attention elsewhere on more important issues such as Fla unemployment and home foreclosures. I am quite certain that his "dog breed ban" was not the focus of his campaign when Mr. Thurstan was running for office. If he and the rest of the Fla Legislature continue to pursue their current path of banning certain dog breeds - then voters in Plantation FL and elsewhere need to vote him and the others out of office during the next election. I, for one, do not appreciate their wasting taxpayers monies on issues like this.

I think this is an absolutely ludicrous Bill. You cannot blame an entire breed for the bad action of a few dogs. I am the owner of a pit/boxer mix and this is the most gentle dog I have ever seen. There will always be dog bites and there will always be aggressive dogs. You cannot pick out one specific breed. Why doesn't this Representative go to the shelters and see how many dogs have been rehabilitated - even former fight dogs. He needs to educate himself. this would be the equivalent of forming an opinion on one specific race of people because of a few who commit crimes. I am furious over this Bill and the restrictions that are placed on certain breeds.

I'm a disabled person with a Service Dog to help me. Her name is Liesl, and she is a 2-year-old Rottweiler. She is sweet natured and gentle with everyone. She can be trusted with babies, cats, and even pet birds. My life was SO limited before I got her. She is strong enough that I can balance against her when getting into and out of my wheelchair. Without her strength, which is much greater than that of the common Service Dog breeds, I would need a human with me all day, every day, and would not have the freedom she gives me. When will our government learn that it isn't the dog that is bad, but the person training the dog. Like any breed of dog, Liesl could have been trained to be mean, but she was trained to help me instead. Why punish the dogs, punish the cruel people that mistreat the dogs and create the problem.

I am a rottweiler owner and will never own another breed of dog. I have 2 children who have grown up with these dogs and this breed is the most loyal lovable dog out there. I dont believe it is right for a group of senators to decide what breeds are deemed vicious. Banning a certain breed of dog to me is the same as banning a certain ethnicity group. How about us euthanizing the criminals and gang members that are a menace to our society and stop concentrating on the smaller problems which is certain dog breeds. They would have to arrest me as well as my husband before any body would come in and try to take my dog from my children and our home.

Its difficult to keep someone from breeding animals to their liking. We aim at the masses since its easier to prosecute then to go individually. Where am I getting at? Ignorance is bliss no matter how high you are in the political system. Lack of effort, knowledge and will by the legislators who think life is like Staples. Pressing a button simply isnt going to end the stupidity from both sides. Dogs are great and its sad that they simply do whatever brings joy to their owner. Even if it means making them a couple of bucks. "one voice might not be heard, but a collaborating protest can go down in history. Love your pet, but most importantly have patience for ignorance from your fellow man

I agree this is stupid and an irresponsible move by the government of florida and more so by the county of Miami Dade!!!!!!!!!!! why would you ban a breed just because of there idot owners who cant take care let alone responsiblity of there dog it them to blame for the ones who miss behave dont punish the breed punish the owner!!!!!!!!!!!! Pit bulls are loyal and loving dogs who dont deserv the bad reputation it is because of this idotic law that i can not own a pitbull in florida i hope some one changes this law and does it quick!

I think specific breed bans are stupid!! this has nothing to do with the dog...and everything to do with the irrisponsible owners!!!! I have had pitbulls for several years and they are the best most loveable dogs, better than the lab, chow, and jack russels that i have owned...this is just totally a stupid move on the part of the government of the State of Florida...

Who peed in Richard's cornflakes? He's the moron! He's obviously emo. Banning dogs is not the easy way out, its the best way out, sophie is soooooo right on that comment. Cats are waaaay smarter than dogs, for one thing they make good foot warmers, and cost less to feed! All we have to do now is to put a law against abusing cats, make the penalty charge 250,000, and pass it in the legislative department! Cats Rule Dog Drool! (its true)

Good,This is an excellent, no awesome article, why did they not think about this before! pass the law! This is the best article dogfancy has ever made! I certainatly approve, bc i certainatly dont want to being randomly killed or injured by a random mutt with an aggressive background, ppl who disagree are all emos who hate themselves and dont value their lives. And dogs being agressive randomly? A cat would know better.

All I can say is this is sooo stupid. I hope Welch Agnew keeps up the good work! I have feared that this would happen. So many shelters around Jacksonville have even banned certain breeds. Why in the hell is it called a shelter when they discriminate? If Florida passes this law, I know I will be moving the hell out. Its not the good owners fault that people messed up the breeds and made agressive dogs for their convience. Every dog deserves a chance! You cant ay the whole breed is banned if they havent even done anything wrong!!!! *Pissed Floridian*

Another stupid law from an inept legislature. I lived in Fla. for 28 yrs. and the state has had ample time to put some real laws on the books regarding dangerous dogs and their idiot owners. The owner gets a slap on the wrist and the dog dies.Basically the dog is blamed for being a dog, rather than the moron who raised the dog in the first place.Breed specific laws don't work, they are just a feel good approach, the lazy way out.

I think I have to agree with the Humane Society of the U.S. It doesn't matter what breed the dog is, it depends on how the dog was trained. They should ban negative training, because that is what is causing this.Pit Bulls are actually some of the sweetest dogs to own.Banning a breed of dog will not help, it may just make some dog owners mad that they may have to leave their home.I don't think that this is a good
idea
