Gary Merrick, NY 12/19/2011 10:08:53 AM My beagle doesn't try to escape when someone is near but if the gate is left open he will take off. He seems to like being chased, often circling back to tease you and then going further away. For sure this can be deadly with cars about.
Kathy Oklahoma City, OK 2/11/2010 12:41:16 PM As someone who is owned by two beagles, I can attest to the fact that they are nose-driven. I wouldn't have them any other way. My beagles are the light of my life and I adore them.
Twila Tallahassee, FL 2/11/2010 12:26:03 PM Nothing would keep my beagle home. But, putting a melodious bell on her collar at least told me her whereabouts! She truly lived up to her name "Dottie's Gone." Now that microchips are available, I'd never be without them.
mary ypsilanti, MI 10/13/2009 10:06:22 AM sounds just like my sons beagle. he manages to get off his harness, and has twice darted into the woods, with my son and his girlfriend in persuit. can you recommend a harness, that would be difficult for him to get out of.
Maria Chicago, IL 9/14/2009 4:08:01 PM Our beagle "meeko" is 6. Question? if a beagle runs away from his home, does he has the ability to return. Because of his impulsivity I am concern to remove the leash. Help is needed.
Angi Piqua, OH 4/17/2009 11:12:51 AM I rescued an abused Beagle, Missy, when she was 4 and 1/2 weeks old. The first 2 years were ROUGH but she is the love of my life, she really saved my life! I am a beagle nut now and proud of it! The only real problem I have with her is her anxiety seperation issues! They are bad. She has eaten my visor off my car while I payed for gas, she has broken tvs, dvd players, eaten shoes, eyeglasses all while I take the trash out. I have to have sitters while I go to work or to the store. I have tried everything to break her and she screams the whole time I am gone and it gets worst when I return. I know she loves me but I would like to break her of it. Any suggestions?
Anna Maple Grove, MN 11/20/2008 1:52:36 PM Cool! I love the popular dogs series! I recently bought one on tricks and games and one on designer dogs. They were great!
Denise Kalamazoo, MI 5/5/2008 6:44:51 PM I will never get over losing my beagle, Cindy, when I was young. I had her for at least 12 years, but it wasn't long enough. When I took her out of her pen, all I had to do was say her name and she'd stop in her tracks and wait for me. Maybe she was never out of her pen long enough to catch a scent, but I find that hard to believe, since we lived in the country. She was the most amazing, most beautiful dog, and I wish I had spent more time with her and not taken her for granted like I did, as kids sometimes do.
LeeAnn Beer ON, Canada, AE 5/13/2007 3:15:46 PM I just bought "Beagles" magazine, from the Popular Dog Series and it's AWESOME!!! I can't see any way to get a subscription. Is that possible? How much for Canada? Thanks, LeeAnn Beer 4705 Garrison Court, RR 1 Harrowsmith, ON K0H 1V0
Lori Boone, IA 4/1/2007 9:27:02 PM I'm on my 4th beagle. He name is Mischevious Scamp. The only time this dog is NOT in trouble is when he is asleep. Otherwise, keep a sharp eye on him, especially when you haven't heard anything from him in about a minute. This family loves beagles & I couldn't picture any other kind of dog in this house.
