True, true, true!! I have had Corgies for the last 33 years, but just one at a time. I am now owned by "Owyyn", whom I adopted from the RI SPCA. You know why they call them "rescues"? He rescued me!! He's very lively, needs lots of exercise and he's helping me get into shape. I thank God every day for him :)

This sounds like excellent information. I've been a dog owner, (collie, lab, English pointer, another lab, cockapoo and miniature poodle, all my life (60 yrs). I lost my poodle six months ago and it has been too long to be without another dog in my life. I've always liked the energy and looks of the corgi and from the info provided in this article I think corgi and I are perfectly cut out for each other. Thank you.

We own 3 of these wonderful little dogs I love heir distinct personality. Though each dog is different they r smart funny they r like children but u must have a upper hand on them ..I highly suggest obedience training. Socialize them early on. And work with heir feet a soon as possible as corgis don't enjoy having their feet handled or nails clipped

I have two corgis that I do not use for herding, just companionship. There is nothing they like better in the world than taking a long walk & then laying around in the yard relaxing after. Unless its a lazy Sunday spent with me on the couch!

Except for the fact of nipping at heels the info in this article applies to most breeds.

we are on corgi #2; they are loyal and playful. She herds the cats around at certain times as they are not always "allowed"n her space, but will not hurt them! She was raised with our rescue kitten. I love corgis and will always have at least one!

I am a Pembroke Corgi person. I have a 3yr. old corgi in my house. She is the sweetest dog I have ever had. When my sons went away to college they bought my corgi to keep me company. Now she is the apple of my eye. I fenced in my yard so she could have a place to run and play. She stays right at my side all the time and I love her.

I read all and I am a Pembroke Corgi person. Good thing, I have one already and she is the love of my life. I did as you said, learned all I could before getting one. After watching "Breed All About It" on Animal Planet roughly 20 years ago, I thought that this dog might be the dog for me. I took my time and did my research. I'm glad I did. Harley is now 3 and I can't discribe in words the bond I have with this dog. We have 2 Miniture Dachshounds (15yrs and 2 yrs, my partners choice of breed), I do love them, I just don't have the conection with them like I do Harley.

Good article. I am a 65 yr old single woman and have owned various breeds over my lifetime. The last 20 years I have only had Rottweilers. I live in the country with a very large fenced backyard. Because of my age I decided I needed a smaller dog that I could carry if need be (vet)ect. I fell in love with a 1 yr old Pembroke 3 months ago, everything I wanted in a pet, sturdy, spunky, smart and very playful and lovable and gets along great with my 7 yr old Rottweiler. Loves to ride in the car seems to be catching on quickly to the house rules, doesn't bark much (maybe because its pretty quiet here), but when someone comes to the door he sure has a good deep bark (surprised me). Very, very happy with this little guy I call him Eddie Velcro!
