They do not need to have a cut except on the pads of their feet, a trim around their feet and their anus for sanitary reasons. They also need their nails trimmed and ears cleaned and the hair removed. This all cost me $15.00 a month at my groomers. I buy a special horse shampoo with sunscreen and conditioner combined and purchased a special pet hose that my husband installed for me $40.00 in my bathroom. I spent $70.00 on a Chris pin brush and a moveable comb and I have a stand up blow dryer that I bought at pet co. and hardly ever use it. All of this together is so much cheaper than going to the groomers every 6 weeks for the full groom!!! These dogs have a rough silk type of hair and it comes out like ours does. It is hair and we all shed to a certain point. They do not smell, even when wet. :-) I have arthritis in my hands, neck and back and I can do it. Don't ruin your dogs hair and your pocketbook. Keep your money and start your puppy off by sitting it in your lap and grooming it yourself. Don't forget to brush its teeth. :-) They love the lap time. and for you to touch them all over.

I have an eight month old Havanese, her name is Widget. Her coloring is coco and cream with green eyes. She is totally packed full of energy, great watch dog, and has a raggy coat that gets matted all the time. I would love to see a picture of a Haranese with a puppy cut.

For My havanese, I rescued about 5 months ago.
He
was two and matted to skin. Someone thought that you only keep a puppy in a crate. He wasn't social and still retracts from little kids. After I washed and gently took the matts out, cutting them. My groomer took over with a modified puppy cut as best as she could till his hair has grown out. Now with the puppy cut he is the happiest puppy around and I've never seen a matt.

Nice article! My Havanese wears a puppy cut and I love it. I can see her eyes! Plus, the grooming is much easier for both of us.

I have a havanese that will be a year at the end of February. I have always had her groomed with a puppy cut. I love it. You don't have to worry about the tangles and her coat still looks beautiful. Her colors still stand out even with the puppy cut. I would highly recommend it to someone who wants a dog with a tempermant of the Havanese but does not have the time to go through the grooming process every day.

This was very helpful! My Havanese is a wonderful puppy. Even though she is brushed and combed daily, tangles are a serious problem! The puppy cut is the way to go! Plus, I get to see her beautiful, laughing eyes with this type of cut.
