Thank You for your article. It was very helpful and well written. I have an Australian Shepherd mix, (though we're not sure what she's mixed with - I suspect Alaskan Malamute) who loves, loves, loves, the cold, but hates the heat. I'm always worried about her when it's too hot. We have only window air conditioners, which we were only able to get 2 weeks ago. It's better now but she still seems to get overheated sometimes. Now I have a better understanding of what to watch for and what to do and what not to do. Thank You.

Great article and timely.....I work at an animal hospital and we just had a heat stroke victim this week. A pit bull that had been taken out for its daily run in 98 degree weather with very high humidity. It showed all the signs, heavy panting, thick saliva, bloody diarrhea etc. Its body just shut down and there was nothing we could do. Please keep your pets inside during the real hot days!

It is HOT and MUGGY in the south. Usually I can't get my shelter dogs in, now I can not keep them out.

I think this is an important article. Many well meaning people do not realize these things. I wish people would change animals water more often. I would not want to drink the same glass of water that sat out all day

What an important information, thank you! I always follow through it. We have the air conditioner on at home all summer, especially for my dog, Zoe. It is costly, but she needs it.

There is a brand new product coming to market as we speak that will sovle most if not all out door dogs water problems. It's called, The Doggie Fountain and allows your dog to have access to cold, clean, fresh water at all times. To see this doggie fountain in action, visit:
www.doggiefountain.com
You simply hook the doggie fountain to your house spigot, train your dog to step on the paddle and your dog will have cold, clean, fresh water
24/7.
I trained my 10 week old puppy in 3 days. He has been using his fountain for 4 years now. ( I am the inventor of this fasinating new product). Videos, pictures and testimonies can be viewed at: www.doggiefountain.com
