Veda Tonawanda, NY 7/19/2009 7:40:13 PM This article gives potential buyers great advice! Great article, in my opinion.
julie lewiston, ME 7/19/2009 4:03:27 PM I feel so bad for those puppies. They have no choice in what humans choose to do to them. We definitely need to be a voice for our loved ones.
Jenn Wheaton, IL 7/19/2009 10:41:01 AM Poor puppies, there are plenty around here that need homes, you don't have to look so far away!
Bertha Schenevus, NY 7/18/2009 8:23:08 AM Why would you buy a puppy online anyway? Think of the poor puppy, who could be shipped thousands of miles.
Kevin Chester, NY 7/18/2009 5:06:46 AM why do people trust strangers sooo much??? it kills me to hear these stories, and it always the nice person who get it in the rear end! you have to be a leary detective with stuff like that.
Galadriel Lothlorien, ME 7/17/2009 10:05:01 PM I can't understand how people fall for these and other scams.
Animal Lover That lives in, DE 7/17/2009 3:08:23 PM If you are selling animals, never put out that the animal is free. Say, puppies, kitties, or whatever the animal for sale. Companies look for free animals to test on, so don't broadcast the cheap amount, just tell those interested, and maybe ask or check their home and situation. Be Causious.
Nicole somewhere in, AZ 7/17/2009 3:03:59 PM I get my dogs from the pound where I know that they need help and I meet the dog before buying it. Expecially if you have kids, make sure the dog likes your family or you. Imagine being forced to live with someone you don't like.
Stacy Bel air, MD 7/17/2009 5:27:55 AM I think this is good info to have. However I have always thought that f you were buying a puppy you should go see were the puppies are being raised and meet the mom and dad. I use to work in a vets office and we saw so many poor sick puppies come from puppy mills and I never understood why you would buy something like a pet from a place you never got to see. When we bought our puppy from a breeder I found online, I email her and talk to her many times on the phone she offered for me to come see the puppies and where they were being kept. You should really know who you are buying from. And don't get me wrong there are some very good breeders out there that are not in your state so in some cases you have to relay on email and the phone.
Sharon Shamrock, TX 1/23/2009 12:26:25 AM Part 3. I truly feel for the dog breeder that this person is bad mouthing. Im not surprised that Jan West isnt ranting and calling me a scammer as well since I refused to sell them a puppy. Im thinking ''Dr. West'' here is either a scammer or mentally unstable. What else could they be after reading the slanderous blather they write about the other breeder. I hope that somebody at dogchannel.com eventually reads this whole thread and promptly deletes everything that mentions actual names of people and their business. What has the world come to? River Valley, my fingers are crossed that dogchannel realizes what has been done on their site and fixes it quickly and I have also sent you an email directly describing my personal experience with Jan West. I plan on posting my experiences with Jan West online to all forums or venues suitable for warning other dog breeders. The initial emails I received never mentioned that Jan West was from Texas or the President of National Business Research Institute or that they had a PHD. However, the final email had Jan West's ''title'' and ''business'' information all in caps at the bottom of the email. Why, I do not know. Again the whole thing was weird from the get-go. I do somehow seriously doubt that puppies for sale are the only online ads Dr. West is emailing people about. It will be interesting to see if any other people join in and tell of experiences or run-in's with Dr. Jan West. I guess for everyone's sake, I would prefer to see the whole thread just removed.
Sharon Shamrock, TX 1/23/2009 12:16:58 AM Part 2 Soooo, I'm thinking, Wow somethings pretty messed up here. I'm not an expert but it sounded like an email I get from scammers every week. This person obviously did not read the actual classified ad at all or they would have realized that 90% of their questions would have been answered before ever contacting me, and in the long run, wasting my time. I went ahead and emailed the puppy inquiry form we send to all interested parties explaining in detail our procedures and policies. One policy we have is we must speak on the phone for a short interview before agreeing to sell a puppy. I, in return received an email reply from Jan West telling me that they would FedEx a cashier's check to me. I replied that we do not accept FedEx, only cash and Paypal and we could not agree to sell the pup until we spoke on the phone. Then a reply back stating they only use FedEx to pay for puppies they buy and still they refused to email me their phone number or say they would call me. The next email I got wanted me to FedEx or fax my complete name, address, phone number, fax number, financial institution, and birthdate as well as the registration papers and health documentation for the dog to them. That really blew me away since they didnt even pay for the pup yet. And I still didnt ever speak to anybody on the phone. They wanted documentation verifying ''paw and other alterations'' that had been done to the pup. Of course they also mentioned that they would handle the shipping since they had their own shipping agent. Imagine that!! We had gone way past weird here trying to deal with ''Jan West''. So to make a long story longer, I finally sent them an email and politely said that I would have to stop all communication with them unless they would either call me or furnish a valid US telephone number I could call so I could verify the transaction. They never did. SO I stopped emailing them back. PLEASE KEEP READING TO HEAR MORE...
Sharon Shamrock, TX 1/23/2009 12:12:25 AM Hello. I am a dog breeder located in the great state of Texas. I was contacted through email by Jan West in regards to a pointer I had for sale shortly after New Year's Day. The email said: "I want this puppy. Is it available? Do you ship to Texas? How much is the total price? Does this price include shipping? I want this puppy, how do we make it happen and what is the condition of the puppy. Please get back to me as quickly as possible with the final asking price of above item. God Bless." Dr. Jan West. **PLEASE READ THE NEXT POST FOR MORE..
Allison Fresno, CA 1/22/2009 10:31:46 PM It's a royal shame that this site (dogchannel.com) lets anonymous people slander people or a business without even having any type of verification or proof of what they are claiming. This untrue trash written by this 'person' Dr. Jan Stringer West PhD (he, she or it-who knows!??!) and it's husband Dr. Ken West of the Dallas area is on the world wide web for whoever to see. This poor kennel is getting grief from somebody who in all actuality could very well be a Nigerian or other type of scammer. You should take after terrific pets dot com and not allow the real names of people or businesses to be published on the web. Ive really lost the urge to browse dogchannel anymore because of this. Dogchannel, show me the proof you have about this kennel and I will apologize to good ole Jan. I bet ya a dollar you cant. Good luck trying to get in touch w/ the poster, Jan Stringer West either by email or phone. I tried to contact her, him, it and never got a response from my email or phone message. I finally called the answering service thats advertised for National Business Research Institute and they verified that they are only an answering service and theres not an actual business w/ real business hours for that company. What is up w/ that?? Sounds hinky to me. I did however get a prompt response (and not from their answering service) from the kennel both by phone and email. Again, Im very irritated that dogchannel is allowing the original post that is untrue by Jan Stringer West to stay up. Maybe I'll come back here when its finally taken down.
Louis Dallas, TX 1/6/2009 3:55:51 PM I feel for those who have been contacted by this person calling herself Jan Stringer West PhD. of the phantom company National Business Research Institute, Inc. ("NBRI") Crooked is all I can say about her and her "husband" Dr. Ken West. National Business Research Institute, Inc. ("NBRI") is a fake shell company with a fake business address in Dallas Texas. I know because I saw this, I live in Dallas and I know where this "virtual office" is. I physically walked into the building and asked for her by name. I was told that she has a virtual executive suite and she works from an undisclosed location. How much audacity does it take to accuse a person of being a scammer for simply having a PO Box when her "office space floor manager" has never laid eyes on her. Is this person real? I know that she doesn't answer her phone, it goes to voicemail. The people that operate this site should be ashamed for leaving these lies out there against a legitimate business owner from a person who may or may not exist. Look at the generic name Dr. Jan West and Dr. Kent West. How many people out the have not gotten the Nigerian Scammer email from Dr. So and So who wants to buy whatever you have or telling you that you won the nigerian lottery. This website is a load of bulls%$t for letting anyone like Jan or Ken West post blatant lies about anyone. Shame on dogchannel.com for letting this happen here and make YOUR site less legitmate.
