I have a 10 yr old female German Shepard with a lemon size lump under her left front leg. It doesn't seem to be painful, doesn't effect her walking and it's not warm to the touch. Does anyone have any idea's as to what it could be?

I have a Maltese, she has a boil in-between her toes on her front right paw. It is about an inch long, 1/2 inch in circumference, and the coloring is red. She does chew on her paws (often chewing the nail off of her front left paw) I was wondering if this is a blood boil, or could it be a spider bite. And of either, what would be a safe remedy that I could perform from home.

Brooke in F'ville: I've seen articles about puppy acne. You may want to look into info on
that.

As for the others with the small pea size bumps/lumps... Are these oily? Can you press them without the dog wincing? I have 2 Dalmatians and one has several bumps that are more of a dermoid cyst. Oily in nature. Not excessively so but you can feel it between your thumb and index finger. Try warm compresses. I notice my dog's get smaller then and larger if she bumps it. It MAY have something to do with the Omega oils in any given food. I'm not super sure about that, but I think it is possible.

Diana: I'm no vet but my vet has told me that a good rule of thumb is if you can pick up the lump and move it around, then it is most likely not troublesome. If it feels like it's "attached" to something,I'd have it
checked.

My oldest Dal, Abbie DID have a cyst that was actually BETWEEN the layers of the dermoid. It was REALLY hard to tell if it was moving so, it presented itself like a serious, hardcore tumor. A biopsy of it revealed it was no threat. Since is was SO CLOSE on the spinal cord and posed no problem, I left it. She is fine and there has been no change in the cyst for the past 2 yrs or
so.

Good Luck with all of your doggies. It is wonderful to see people so passionate about their fur-babies!

My dog has a small bump on her leg. The vet said its not serious but would cost alot of money to remove. Is there something else we can do?

My dog has a lump about the size of a golf ball on her right side, about 6" from her front leg. Should I be concerned? I do plan to take her to the vet. She recently had an abcess on her tummy that had to be cleaned out. This is a great forum!
