Oh my goodness! You had forgotten the most important one of all! What about Meningitis Syndrome in Maltese? I had no idea they are almost prone to having this disease. My little guy, Tiny, was diagnosed with this disease back in October 2013 and we had to put him down just last week! From diagnosis to having him put down in about 4 months. No cure for it. He was only 8 years old too. Here's a website everyone should read regarding this horrible disease. ome-maltese.html

My dog had the same symptoms. Excessive coughing was the first symptom that we experienced. After he fainted one time, we took him to a specialist and he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart in the left side. Unfortunately, even though we put him on medicine, his disease continued to progress and he passed away after a year and a half of the diagnosis with congestive heart failure. The sooner the problem is detected the better the chances they can live longer. And medicine will help, but without it the heart will continue to grow. My maltese was 10. I wish you the best of luck!

I have been told that a Maltese' nose should be all black. My maltese' is very pink. The vet says he is healthy. Should this be something to worry about?
