What's this?
A cousin to the Munsterlander and the Drentse Patrijshond setter type dogs, the French Spaniel is an old breed. French Spaniels are fine retrieving dogs that do the job passionately. Weight runs from 44 to 55 pounds, and height is from 21 to 24 inches. The flat, straight coat is clear white with liver markings and as little ticking as possible. Tan markings are not permitted. Feathering adorns the legs, ears, belly and tail. As with other setters, the tail is left long. Brush the coat about three times a week to keep it free of tangles. The French Spaniel is docile, trainable and intelligent, responding well to kind, consistent training.
