Prepare for your puppy's homecoming by purchasing the items you will need for him and making your home a safe, puppy-proof place.
- The basic accessories you will need include bowls, puppy food, a collar, an ID tag, leashes, a crate and possibly baby gates, grooming tools and toys.
- Puppy-proofing means securing or removing all dangerous items such as electrical cords, fertilizers, household chemicals, sharp objects and the like, having escape-proof fencing around the yard and creating a safe area indoors that the pup can call his own.
- Keep things low-key during pups first few days at home. On the first day, introduce him to his crate and have him sleep in it overnight.
