Beagle Overview

Is a Beagle right for you?

1. A Beagle person has a zest for life to match his little dog's enthusiasm. He is a patient and kind individual who has the time to train his Beagle, share daily activities and provide a safe, happy home. Beagle folk also own a good vacuum cleaner.

2. Somewhat stubborn and always independent, Beagles can be a challenge to train, as they require consistency and structure. Some Beagles can be barky and become bored easily.

3. The Beagle person enjoys exercise and is willing to give his dog more than a short walk around the block.

4. Beagles offer many rewards to their dedicated owners. They are happy to be in your company and can make any ho-hum day lots of fun.

our beagle is almost 3 years old. we have been to 1 obed training and had a home behaviorist. she seems very food aggressive to our children (17, 21 y/o) and growls when we fix food. she pees on our couch. we keep her crated. she does not sleep with us. what can we do if we are not beagle people? any suggestions?

I just rescued a beagle/chihuahua pekingese mix. He (Obadiah)looks like a beagle and I have to say when he goes out to go potty he has to be on a lead because if he picks up a scent he will follow it right out of the yard, so I agree about having a fenced in yard for beagles, I will be putting in a fence as soon as the ground thaws here in Michigan. Other than that Obadiah is very happy to cuddle, he doesn't like snow or rain, and he loves to play with his "brother & sister", the cats!!

My beagle/jack Russel is very fun and does love her daily walks but if its to cold or snowy and rainy for her she'll settle for a longer play session inside instead of the usual long walk. She is a sweet heart and very entertaining she also loves ice cream and a lot of other things loves others dogs especially beagles

I've been in love with Beagles since my first when I was 15. I've owned three more since her. I will never have another breed. Although I love all dogs, Beagles always hold a special place in my heart. To me they are perfect in every way. Everything you'll read about them is true. My present Beagle, Carlos, is the apple of my eye and goes everywhere with me. It took me a while to figure out where he wanted to sit in the car without fear-piddling, but he finally made it clear it was my lap. Soon we'll be entering the world of Field Trials for the first time ever. We're very excited. Hope I can keep up with him.
